Our community

Here you’ll find everyone from marketing managers and comms execs to freelancers, solo business owners, and students exploring the industry. If you’re interested in marketing, you’re welcome around the campfire.

We’re here to help sharpen your skills with regular talks and resources and to offer you some company as you trek this tough marketing terrain. So come along, swap ideas, make a useful contact, find some common ground, have a little moan, ask for help, share a cool tool, spot a new opportunity, spark a debate, form a friendship. We’d love to meet you anytime.

We’re all about the face-to-face

We never record our events or have people joining online. For us it’s all about meeting up IRL. The world has a ton of digital events, webinars, and podcasts and we’re not trying to compete with all those great resources. They have their place – but the way you learn in-person, the chance for in-depth Q&A and discussion, and the informal chats (and, let’s be real, the beer) just can't be replicated digitally. So, like Olivia Newton John, we say let’s get physical.

We keep it local

Since all our meet-ups are IRL, our community is mainly made up of people from around Oxfordshire – which means that even if the work we do is national (or international) we’ve still got a great support network close to home. All our speakers also live and work in the county. That way they’re not just parachuting in to share some insights and then buggering off – they’re a meaningful part of the community, in it for the long haul. And where we can, we get our drinks and snacks from local suppliers too, doing our bit to support businesses in our area.

We’re relentlessly practical

All our sessions are designed to arm you with info, advice, and ideas that you can put into practice straight away. So we tend to steer clear of big-picture topics (and wanky ‘thought-leadership’), instead exploring the practical areas of marketing that are super relevant to your day-to-day work.

Our partners

We’re supported by the brilliant Oxford College of Marketing, who offer a whole bunch of marketing, sales, and PR courses and qualifications – from one-off webinars and day-long masterclasses to diplomas and mini MBAs. They’re the ones who help us keep Marketing Camp free (hurrah) and also make sure we’ve got plenty of booze every month. And our mastermind and host is branding consultant Bethany Joy, who we suspect mainly enjoys running our monthly meet-ups because it gives her an evening off from her kids.

Hear from happy campers

Marketing Camp is a great place to meet like-minded people working in the creative industries. It's a fantastic space to share and gain knowledge with a friendly, positive, and motivated group.

Marketing Camp is a really welcoming, friendly space. The speakers not only share smart insights and practical tips, but are also always happy to have their brains properly picked during the Q&A. You’ll absolutely come away having learnt something new, gained a different perspective on some part of your work, and also made great connections.

Every meet-up I’ve made it to has been super useful – whether for networking, picking up tips in areas that I’m less confident in, or simply being reassured that I’m on the right track.
